Due to the large number of worshippers, prayers are being offered in two shifts in most places. Thousands of people offered Bakrid prayers at the Taj Mahal complex in Agra, including some Nigerian tourists.

Police have been deployed outside Eidgahs and mosques in the entire state, including sensitive places like Sambhal and Varanasi. Drone surveillance is underway in some places. In Bijnor, MP Chandrashekhar Azad visited the Eidgah and showered flowers on the worshippers.

In Bulandshahr, due to the large crowd at the Eidgah Mosque, some people tried to offer namaz outside. But they were stopped by the police.

Muslim religious leaders have urged people to offer prayers only inside mosques and Eidgahs, and not on the streets. Furthermore, they have issued instructions that the sacrifice of animals should be performed indoors or at designated slaughterhouses.

BSP supremo Mayawati, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and other political leaders of the state extended Eid greetings.

In Lucknow, Maulana Khalid Rashidi Farangi Mahali led the prayers at the Aishbagh Eidgah. After the prayers, he prayed for peace, brotherhood, and prosperity in the country and the world.

On the other hand, members of the Shia community offered Eid al-Adha prayers at the Asafi Mosque in the Bada Imambara.

Addressing the crowd before the prayers, Muslim religious leaders said that the festival of Eid al-Adha conveys the message of renunciation, humanity, brotherhood, and sacrifice in the path of Allah. They appealed to the people to celebrate the festival with peace, love, and simplicity, and to help the needy.

The police and district administration were fully vigilant regarding security arrangements during the festival. Police forces continuously patrolled outside mosques and Eidgahs, maintaining a peaceful atmosphere throughout the district.

After the prayers, the ritual of sacrifice began throughout the city. People performed the Sunnah ritual by sacrificing animals at home. Various dishes were prepared at home, and people wished each other Eid al-Adha.
